there are a few ways to learn about the music being created in lincoln

lincolnzine is the premier site for cd reviews of local artists
and to find out what exactly is going on in lincoln music

krnu's local inferno site also has mucho info on local artists

the regular krnu is pretty cool
you can look up their charts and weekly cd adds

slamomaha tries to keep up with lincoln music
but does a poor job copared to the previous two

knickerbockers is a local venue
with some band information pages
and an up-to-date schedule of shows
now if they could only spell my band name correctly

my favorite local bands!

sockeye mariogold
ok so this is my band
and if i didn't think it was good
i wouldn't be in it
here we have a right brained girl writing powerful songs
and a left brained boy writing emotional songs
in a crazy lennon/mccartneyesque colaboration yet competition
something tells me i'm into something good

creatures of habit
i'm working on describing your stuff tery...
i haven't come up with the words yet!

crush the clown
i don't know whether to laugh or cry
maybe that's what their name is all about
i can't stop laughing when i hear that san-fran-fucking-cisco song
and the precision of the time changes and musical sequencing
in song where daddy gets offed makes me cry
tight

the black dahlias
they remind me of my childhood listening to the country
music on the AM radio in a chevy silverado while my dad
aimed his rifle at coyotes in the snow on sunday mornings
some of their songs sound like they come from the isolated smoky mountain churches
from a slow-paced journey on a wagon train
from the voyages of the opium ships
from hollywood's golden days of scandals
with some hip-shakin' and bottle breakin' tunes to top it off

king jellyfish
this is one of the first bands i've ever seen mature before my eyes
able to write the best serial killer and wolf's howl songs in town
and change them all up reggae or disco style
mid-song if need be
not a single band has more fun or takes itself as lightly as these guys
except pablo's triangle

drive by honky
more hooks than a columbus homebuilders association fishing tournament
but the voice of dan jenkins and his acoustic guitar
root this music in something solid that i can't put my finger on
a friend of mine once said that this is what r.e.m. would sound like
if michael stipe were from nebraska and straight and had the hook-loving head
of bill berry growing out of his other shoulder
peter buck's little finger
and mike mill's ass
and their early songs that everyone loves
were combined with the power and distortion of their recent years
bill berry's head would not be singing of course

pablo's triangle
belive the hype, i'm telling you
from this band, all of the lincoln bands are somehow incestuously related
they could not put on a better show if they had giant inflatable pigs humping the speakers
they not only exhibit flexibility in which instruments they play
but in the sounds they produce
and every single one of those sounds is bound to make you bounce
