i'm good with plans and i'm good with machines
so i think that makes me a good quilter
i make quilts out of jeans
my aunt jean makes everyone in my family one when they graduate from high school
i thought it would be fun to make one for one of my friends
when he graduated from high school
i made another one when another friend graduated from college

first i cut out 8x8 inch squares out of blue/frosted/black jeans
then i sew them together with the seams on the outside
next i choose what kind of pattern i'm going to put on the inside
i made one out of transformers sheets once
pin the badding and the sheet to the jeans and sew together
finally i tie the quilt together with yarn 
in the middle of each square with a tapestry needle

i like to think of these blankets as portable hugs
(awwww...how cheesy, julee has feelings!  where did they come from?)

maybe i'll make something not based on squares someday
